The SOS Story
My name is Rachel and I set up Smart Office Support in 2017, to give Micro and Small Businesses the admin support they need to enable them to grow.
I love admin, organisation and processes, all the jobs that you either don’t enjoy or struggle to find time for, leaving you free to think and work on your business expansion.
I bring a wealth of corporate experience in project (Prince2) and Service Delivery Management (ITIL) and offer the broad range of support that many VAs aren’t able to. As this became more apparent to many businesses, the demand for my services grew and so did SOS.
Now my husband is part of the team. He also comes from a corporate background, being an ex-IT Consultant, allowing us to provide both technical support and small project support, further deepening the range of support that many VAs aren’t able to.
I thrive on the variety of work I’m given and the new challenges that may arise.
Because of our collective corporate and technical skills we are able to provide a comprehensive range of services across various sectors, from projects to social media to admin. These skills further allow us to look for areas of improvement in our clients’ processes and systems.
My husband says that I am like an ‘island of order in a sea of disorder’, with many ‘to-do’ lists on the go at the same time.
I live and work in Portishead, a beautiful part of the world, where we are so lucky to have access to wonderful walks along the seafront and into the nature reserve.
When I need a bit of downtime I turn to T’ai chi and Yoga, both great ways to relax as well as keeping you fit, but my favourite hobby is doing Jigsaws. I think I enjoy these so much because it is taking something from chaos, sorting it out, and then making something of it; a busman’s holiday for me!

We take the time to dig deep to find out how you work and the challenges you have, so we can tailor the best solutions that will make the biggest difference to you.
This could be by taking on your bookkeeping, contract management, dealing with your client requests or any other administrative activities that give you back your precious time.
Sometimes it can be difficult for you to see the bigger picture when you’re still in the frame, so we’ll take a step back and identify processes that need implementing, improving or automating. We’re always striving to give you a more streamlined and efficient business that removes frustration and clears the air, in more ways than one!
Also, as more services are being moved online, we help you understand where you could best utilise these for you own business, and then project manage that change to create better practices for you.
When asked what I enjoy most about my work, it’s the variety. I love doing new and different things, especially the learning process that often goes with it, I love to ensure that we get it working seamlessly for you where we can. We love having something to get our teeth into, other than a bar of chocolate!
